Pregnant, Parenting & Pursuing a Dream: Why I created this business for mums like me

Life right now is a bit of a whirlwind, juggling all of the plates and doing my absolute best with what energy I can find. I’m a mum to a very active toddler, currently expecting baby number two (so you can imagine my energy levels) and in the midst of it all trying to push a start up business alongside freelance work. I’m writing this not just to share what I do, but to share why I do it—because behind every workshop, vision board morning, and paint & sip event, there’s a story. My story. And maybe, it’ll resonate with yours too.

My First Pregnancy Journey:

The moment that changed me

When I was pregnant with my first, I had no idea how intense, emotional, and honestly isolating pregnancy could be. Yes, there were magical moments—feeling those first kicks, seeing that scan—but there were also long, tired days where I felt overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain exhausted. And not to mention the nausea and sickness.

At 3 months pregnant, moving one hour away from my family and friends to build a beautiful life with my now husband and step daughter, I remember searching for spaces that felt calm, supportive, and fun. Something more than just antenatal appointments and classes. I was a big lover of meditation, painting, connecting with others and journaling so I wanted somewhere I could just be, connect with other pregnant women, and feel seen—not just as a “mum-to-be,” but as me. That’s what planted the seed for my pregnancy wellness events…

And that space didn’t really exist, so I decided to create it.

As a mum of a newborn back in March 2023, my brain was so busy with all of the new things to learn, the sleep deprivation, the endless amounts of laundry, as well as running two businesses and working freelance from 9 weeks postpartum. So naturally I forgot about my plans to start a pregnancy wellness events company!

Thankfully, in May 2024 just after I got married. My husband and I didn’t want any more children, but the wedding seemed to rewire our brains and we started to make a few plans on when to start trying and seeing what the universe brings us.

Whilst in this period of unknown, I jumped up and was taken aback by the reminder that came to me of my original idea from 2 years ago!

Then that was it… My excitement came, my rush of enthusiasm and I ran for it, planning all of the different types of events that I could think of that I would have loved whilst pregnant, designing flyers, posters and business cards and getting started on a functional website.

I delved right in with the planning, started imagining a space where pregnant women could connect, relax, laugh, and celebrate this wild ride together. Not just hospital classes or clinical appointments, but something softer. Warmer.

So, I created events like Bumps & Mocktails and vision board mornings—where mums-to-be can slow down, get creative, and feel empowered about their birth and postpartum journey. Every part of my business is designed to offer what I wished I’d had.

But let’s be real here… trying to run a business with a toddler underfoot and another baby on the way is no joke. Most days feel like a mix of chaos and creativity. I’m planning events while building block castles, either answering emails during nap time or napping myself, and brainstorming Instagram content while cooking a meal that she won’t even eat – fussy stage is fun right?

There are days where it flows, and days where it really doesn’t. I’ve learnt to work in pockets of time, forgive myself when it’s messy, and celebrate the small wins! Spending a lot of afternoons in bed catching up on admin whilst the toddler attends pre-school just to get some rest is a highlight, honestly.

I do spend many days wondering why I do this, why I push myself to the limits when I said at the beginning of the year that I’d be focusing on slowing down where I could… Then it clicked. It’s for every time a mum sends a message saying how calm or confident she felt after one of my events or during an event a mum says “this is fantastic what you’re doing, just what I needed” – I know this is exactly what I’m meant to be doing,

I believe pregnant women deserve more than just ticking boxes in their midwife appointments—we deserve moments of connection, joy, and preparation that goes beyond the practical. We are led to believe through social media that the preparations are getting all of the baby things together, washed and put away etc., but in actual fact the preparation for you, your mindset and how you want your postpartum to look is extremely important. That’s what I’m trying to build. And as my own family grows, my passion for supporting other mums just gets stronger.

If you’re a mum with a dream, I just want to say this: it’s okay to go slow. It’s okay to build something in the cracks between the chaos of family life. Whether it’s a business, a blog, or just an idea on a piece of paper—you can start small. You can start tired. You can start now. A friend once told me that businesses that build quickly tend to fall fast and struggle with the jump of success, and businesses that build slowly have more stability and growth throughout to flourish. I completely agree!

For the pregnant mums, here’s my message to you. One thing I’ve learned, especially since becoming a mum, is how easy it is to put ourselves last. We’re always looking after someone—feeding, comforting, scheduling, planning. But pregnancy is a season where you matter so deeply. Your rest, your mindset, your joy – it all matters. So take time for yourself, no matter how hard or uncomfortable it may seem, no matter if your ego is stepping in telling you that you’ve not been productive today so must do something. Put it all away, rest and do something for you. It might be lounging in bed for the afternoon with a book, watching your favourite TV show, enjoying a soak in the bath or going for an indulgent massage.

Lets connect:
